U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, on his first foreign road trip pledged $450m in support of Egypt’s faltering economy…
… all of this coming on the heels of severe budgetary shortfalls, sequestration that is griping the nations Capitol and an economy that is faltering here in the U.S.
The Secretary of State warned Cairo that “more hard work” is needed. Egypt is already one of the largest recipients of U.S. military aid.
Kerry encouraged Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi to open up the political process and carry out much needed reforms in Egypt. He urged Morsi to ensure April polls were free, fair and transparent.
The question is… How can anyone expect fair and transparent when the Egyptian President initiated a decree placing himself above the law? Morsi’s decision to push through a controversial constitution lacking any consensus…. provoked huge demonstrations, strikes and boycotts!
